"We do things a bit differently at JPC, and our high percentage of repeat work shows our clients appreciate that."
Alex Jenkins has overall responsibility for pre-construction, project delivery, and financial control at John Perkins Construction. He ensures a joined-up approach for our teams and clients, by managing the handover of projects from pre-construction to delivery, and overseeing the works right through to completion.
He joined the business in 2014 as a Quantity Surveyor and swiftly moved up the ranks, becoming a director in 2019.
The most critical part of his role is building strong relationships across the whole team (employees, supply chain, and clients). By building trust, through collaborative working, he prides himself on being able to defuse difficult situations and find solutions that truly add value.
Alex spearheaded the expansion of JPC into South Wales and the addition of an office in Newport. As his young son Luca grows up, Alex is looking forward to being able to point out local landmarks in his hometown of Newport and tell Luca, “I built that.”
He is driven on by continuous improvement and finding ways to make smarter decisions, as well as inspiring the team at JPC to always live up to the company values of honesty, openness, integrity, and flexibility.
What was really important to us was transparency over costs, and honesty about the programme. The fact that John Perkins Construction regularly updated us with a programme, a cost plan and a cashflow forecast meant that we knew early about any extra costs or delays. The whole team at Kingswood School was better able to understand where the money was going.
