A £1.4 million competitive contract for Weston Area Health NHS Trust saw John Perkins Construction work in partnership with surveyors Ridge and Partners to transform Weston General Hospital’s ‘Quantock Unit’ into a new outpatients’ department. This two-phase, 22 week project was completed on time and to budget in an occupied hospital, within very tight timescales.
Operating in a sensitive environment with difficult access is all in a day’s work for the company. The John Perkins team previously project-managed the creation of a state-of-the-art endoscopy unit and completely refurbished an entire wing at Weston General, with no disruptions to staff or emergency services, even though the hospital remained open throughout the project.
In addition to the new outpatients’ unit, a second phase of works involved John Perkins remodelling and refurbishing the old outpatients’ department to create new consultant rooms.

John Perkins worked to very tight timescales to ensure our brief was met, on time and to budget. The team had to work in close proximity to hospital staff, showing sensitivity and flexibility at all times and remained customer focused throughout. We are very pleased with the result.
