John Perkins Construction partitioned and refurbished Kingswood School’s Summerhill House to create a fresh and inviting new space for its Prep School.
This listed building was given a new lease of life, with rewiring, new mechanical services, plastering and decorations undertaken, including the installation of a new lift. The historical nature of Summerhill House required great sensitivity during the works, with cornice detailing reinstated by a plasterwork specialist.
A ‘live’ school environment always throws up challenges, but the John Perkins team was able to fully segregate the works site from the rest of the school, in order to uphold excellent Health & Safety standards. Safeguarding concerns were allayed by the presence of both a Site Manager and an Assistant Site Manager with enhanced DBS certification.
Following the works, the Prep School is able to enjoy a stunning new servery and dining hall, with a revamped music room and airy office space for the staff.
