In a high-profile contract for Bristol City Council, John Perkins Construction carried out a ‘facelift’ for Bristol’s iconic ‘B’ Bond Warehouse, the home of the Bristol Record Office in Cumberland Basin.
The £326,000 competitive contract win was for a full external refurbishment of the nine-storey building, built during the tobacco import boom in the early 20th century. The refurbishment was completed over 31 weeks.
Working closely with Almondsbury-based Ibstock Brick Ltd to ensure hand made refurbishment cill sections exactly matched originals, John Perkins also carried out some of the fabric repair out-of-hours to minimise disruption to the working day.
